The Fraxel DUAL laser treatment offers a number of benefits, including smoother, younger-looking skin.
We recently sat down with Holly, a patient at The West Institute who underwent her first Fraxel DUAL treatment.
The erasing of unwanted brown spots and treating sun-damaged skin were some of the things that specifically interested Holly, especially after spending time in the sun during her summer vacation.
“I did Fraxel to reverse sun damage, age spots, freckles, improve skin texture, shrink pores and stimulate new collagen,” said Holly.
Fraxel DUAL 1550/1927 treatments resurface your skin by stimulating the growth of new, healthy skin cells from the inside out.
After only one treatment, Holly has already begun to notice a significant difference in her appearance.
“I’ve noticed my pore size has shrunk, the texture feels great and my freckles are gone,” said Holly.
While pain can often times be a deterrent for patients looking into laser treatments, Holly used numbing cream prior to the treatment and wasn’t significantly bothered by the pain.
“On a scale of 1-10, I would rate the pain level of Fraxel DUAL at 4.”
During the first 24 hours after receiving a Fraxel DUAL treatment, your skin may feel as though it is sunburned, and it will appear pink or red.
“My skin felt a little like sandpaper for the first three or four days,” said Holly. “But no one could tell except me.”
Since the Fraxel DUAL laser treats only a fraction of tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact, which promotes very rapid healing.
“There was no serious downtime. I was able to go to work the next day. I was a little swollen, but that went down by day two.”
After Fraxel treatments, you definitely want to wear sunscreen, avoid direct sun exposure for at least three months after your last treatment and wear a wide-brimmed hat when you’re in the sun.
“Post care I used the Alastin Skin Nectar twice a day, which helps to reduce inflammation, redness and irritation,” said Holly.
“I used Elta Clear Sunscreen, which is very important. I also sat under the LightStim, which helps calm the skin,” said Holly.
