At the West Institute, we take pride in selecting the most state-of-the-art technology that has demonstrated effectiveness, convenience, and value to our patients. One such treatment is LightStim LED Light Therapy, an anti-aging, relaxing, overall wellness treatment that requires no downtime or inconvenience.
Our patients frequently ask, “What exactly is LED Light Therapy?”. Below, we will answer this question by providing a brief overview of your LED Therapy options and what you can expect.
How Does LED Light Therapy Work?
This no-downtime treatment emits beneficial, UV-free rays of light from 18,240 LEDs designed to rejuvenate, repair and energize every cell in the body. These wavelengths are proven to stimulate the body’s natural process to build new proteins and regenerate cells. Lightstim LED light therapy delivers light energy in a similar way plants absorb light energy from the sun and increases cells’ production of the body’s fuel source, ATP.
LightStim Therapy is available at the West Institute on two platforms:
- LightStim Bed: The LightStim Professional LED Bed is a relaxing, natural, and non-invasive 40 minute experience that promotes total body wellness and peak physiological function by utilizing the power of LightStim MultiWave® Patented Technology. The Lightstim bed simultaneously emits multiple wavelengths (colors) of light that work together to increase blood circulation and reduce inflammation so your body can naturally relieve pain, speed healing, and improve total body wellness-all while feeling like you’re lying in the sun. It is the first LED Bed to gain FDA-approved for the temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and stiffness, minor arthritic pain or muscle spasms, the temporary increase in local blood circulation, and the temporary relaxation of muscles as well as a release of endorphins. Many of our patients add on a 40 minute session in the LightStim Bed following their customized Medical Facial, Dermaplane or Dermaglow treatment for added total body relaxation and rejuvenation. Following LightStim, you will feel an overall sense of relaxation and may notice improved sleep as well as an enhanced libido.
- LightStim ProPanel Device: The LightStim ProPanel delivers the same UV-free rays as the LightStim Bed, but is limited to the face. Our LightStim ProPanel is used during our custom West Institute Medical Facials, as well as post-procedure following many different laser, microneedling and other energy-based treatments. ProPanel LightStim treatments help reduce mild to moderate acne, reduce inflammation and redness, in addition to stimulating collagen production.
Is the Device Proven to Work?
LightStim LED technology is FDA-approved, and there is also clinical evidence to back the device’s effectiveness; two clinical studies done for the FDA showed that after eight weeks of using LightStim five to seven times per week, subjects saw a visible improvement in wrinkles and fine lines. Additionally, results were long-lasting and showed improved and sustained production of collagen and elastin production, two skin components that decline with aging and sun exposure, to promote healthier and younger-looking skin.
