How to Rejuvenate Tired Eyes

Your eyes can look and feel tired for several reasons, including lack of sleep, diet, digital eye strain, allergies, aging, and genetics. Tired looking eyes can negatively impact your appearance, causing others to perceive you as older and more tired than you actually are. If left unaddressed, this condition can diminish your confidence and self-esteem.

What can you do to give your tired eyes a rested appearance?

Rejuvenating Tired Eyes on Your Own

Lifestyle changes that can to impact the appearance of tired eyes include:

  • sleeping for a full 7-9 hours
  • following an “active”skincare routine (for example a retinoid-containing eye cream)
  • taking screen time breaks

While the interventions listed these may improve your skin’s overall health and appearance, they not be enough to make significant changes depending on your anatomy.l. Fortunately, several industry-leading treatments offered at the West Institute with renowned dermatologist Dr. Tina West can help you restore the appearance of your eye area.

AcuPulse Fractional CO2 Laser

AcuPulse Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing uses a fractional (“pixelated”) delivery of a precise wavelength of laser energy to penetrate down to the level of the dermis to stimulate treated skin to produce new collagen and blood vessels and, resulting in tightening of fine wrinkling as well as improvement in dark undereye circles. This treatment is the gold standard for treating undereye skin with fine wrinkles or a crepey texture and dark undereye circles.

Dermal Fillers (Restylane)

Restylane is a dermal filler made of hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar molecule that is found in the dermis (the layer just below the skin’s surface) that is one of the skin’s components responsible for youthful plumpness and elasticity.  Restylane is one of the most widely used dermal fillers and is often injected under the skin using a cannula (blunt-tipped instrument) or a fine-gauge needle to replace lost volume. When injected into the undereye area, the filler instantly fills the skin to fill and smooth undereye hollows.

If you have facial hollowing, dark undereye circles, or a generally tired appearance, Restylane may be an excellent treatment option for you.

Neuromodulators

FDA-approved neuromodulators such as Botox®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®, and Xeomin® address the lines and wrinkles that occur from repeated muscle contractions from squinting and frowning. These movements are the underlying causes of “frown” lines between the eyes, as well as “crow’s feet” wrinkles that occur with smiling.

If you find others mentioning that you look angry or upset when you’re not, or if you are interested in correcting subtle signs of aging like crow’s feet, then this treatment may be suitable for you.
