Male Body Contouring with EMSculpt
Emsculpt® is a body contouring treatment that uses electromagnetic energy to stimulate muscles and simultaneously reduce subcutaneous fat without surgery, incisions, or any downtime. It is the first and only non-invasive device that melts fat and builds muscle by building up the weak muscles that are underneath fat. In addition, Emsculpt has the distinction of providing a non-surgical butt lift and improvement of abdominal separation (diastasis recti). The West Institute was the first practice in Montgomery County to offer Emsculpt, and also the first to add FDA-approved applicators that build muscles in the arms and legs, including the calves.
How Does EMSculpt Work?
Emsculpt uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to initiate a series of 20,000 supramaximal muscle contractions in the abdomen and buttocks. These forced contractions do not allow a relaxation period and are more powerful than voluntary contractions that occur with exercise. As a result, fat is broken down and muscles are strengthened for a defined abdomen and firmer and rounder buttocks. Biceps/triceps and calf muscles can also be treated at the West Institute.
Is EMSculpt Right For Me?
Most healthy adults desiring increased muscle mass, including a more defined abdominal “6-pack” or lifted buttocks, and a simultaneous reduction in fat (abdomen only), can benefit from Emsculpt. Ideal candidates are often men and women who are already fit but want to take their body to the next level. Core strength is enhanced and, in many patients, a more visible “6-pack” of abdominal muscles is achieved.
Emsculpt may also be an excellent alternative for patients seeking improvement in the size, shape, and position of their buttocks without injections or surgical augmentation. Additionally, this revolutionary device can help moms suffering from diastasis recti (separation of abdominal muscles following pregnancy) by tightening abdominal muscles and decreasing a visibly protruding lower belly; previously, correction could be achieved only through invasive surgery.
Dr. West and team will meet with you to identify if this treatment is best to meet your needs and goals.
EMSculpt Results: What Should I Expect?
Each Emsculpt treatment is the equivalent of 20,000 crunches or squats and feels similar to an intense workout. Patients often see a noticeable increase in muscle mass and decrease in subcutaneous fat in as little as two-to-four weeks and will continue to improve for the next three to six months. MRI studies reveal increased muscle mass lasting up to a year.
For optimal fat destruction and toning, a series of four Emsculpt treatments spaced two-to-three days apart is recommended as well as maintenance treatments at three-month intervals.
