LightStim LED Light Therapy

LightStim LED Light Therapy Now in Chevy Chase, MD

Dr. Tina West, Board-Certified Dermatologist and founder of the The West Institute, is excited to introduce LightStim LED Light Therapy treatments at her practice in Chevy Chase, MD.

“Our patients cannot get enough of the glow they leave with after this treatment!”

You may have seen LightStim featured in magazine’s and talked about by numerous celebrities, but what exactly is it all about?

According to Chelsea Grimes, Aesthetician at The West Institute, LightStim is the newest technology in LED lights.

“It is an excellent, no-downtime treatment that stimulates collagen and elastin,” said Grimes. “It reduces inflammation and pore size, and speeds healing.”

LightStim uses LED light therapy to deliver light energy in a similar way plants absorb light energy from the sun.

Dr. West makes mention of the fact that people are attracted to this particular treatment because it feels like you’re lying in the sun–which is ironic because it is the opposite.

“It has that kind of guilty pleasure feeling, that you’re lying in the sun,” said Dr. West. “But, in reality, you’re actually doing something that’s good for your skin!”

LightStim emits UV-free, beneficial light rays that energize cells and stimulate the body’s natural process to build new proteins and regenerate cells.

Hollywood’s Best-Kept Secret

According to Los Angeles-based Aesthetician, Shani Darden–who sees a number of Hollywood A-listers including Jessica Alba, Emmy Rossum and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley–the LED lights have a number of benefits.

“The pink LED boosts collagen production, which firms skin,” said Darden (via InStyle.com).

Huntington-Whiteley swears by LightStim for its quick and effective results. “LightStim evaporates any fine lines, acne, scars and dark circles,” said Huntington Whitely (via VioletGrey.com).

Just like plants, our skin and other body tissues have the ability to absorb light and convert it into energy.

While plants can safely absorb light from the sun, the sun emits harmful UV rays that can do more damage to our skin than good.

The power of LightStim has been lauded by many, including Cristina Simon of the Kate Somerville clinic in West Hollywood.

“It’s good for a little bit of everything,” said Simon (via Byrdie.com). “From texture and tone, to acne and aging.”

So how long does a treatment like this take? “It takes less than 20 minutes, it is pain free and can be beneficial for every skin type,” said Grimes.

“LightStim is effective as a stand-alone treatment, after a Chemical Peel, Microdermabrasion, Laser or in a Facial,” said Grimes.
