Is Lip Augmentation Right for You?

Achieving full, luscious lips is an aesthetic goal for many of our patients. Thin lips may be a result of genetics or can occur due to volume loss that accompanies the aging process.

Fortunately, lip augmentation with Dr. Tina West enhances the natural shape of the lips and creates a youthful fullness.

The procedure is highly popular and loved by many of our patients—but is it right for you?

What Fillers Are Used for Lip Augmentation?

Many different types of dermal fillers can be used for lip augmentation. Dr. West typically recommends one of the following options:

  • Restylane®
  • Restylane Refyne®
  • Restylane Kysse®
  • Juvederm Ultra XC®
  • RHA(R)

These fillers are comprised of hyaluronic acid and provide a soft, natural-looking lip enhancement. Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin, eyes, and joints. These synthetic fillers are very bio-compatible,well-tolerated and typically last for up to a year.

The selected filler is injected into the lip using an ultrafine needle following topical numbing.  During the treatment, Dr. West also uses ice and a vibration device to distract your nerve endings. In addition, all of the fillers that she uses contain lidocaine, which is used for injectable numbing. Dr. West carefully places each injection to create a natural-looking shape and volume.
