Can an Injectable Treat Cellulite? Here’s What You Need to Know About the QWO Treatment

The West Institute is proud to be selected as one of only 300 practices in the United States to be included in the early launch of QWO, the first and only FDA-approved injectable that treats moderate to severe cellulite.

Here are several things that you need to know about this innovative cellulite reduction treatment!

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is the dimpled-looking skin that commonly occurs on the buttocks and thighs. It emerges when adipose tissue deep in the skin pushes up against connective tissue. It’s estimated that nine out of ten women will have cellulite in their lifetime, and it can resist even the most diligent exercise and dieting regimens. Fortunately, QWO offers a new and convenient way to treat cellulite.

How Does QWO Work?

QWO contains two collagen-degrading enzymes (collagenases) that gently dissolve the fibrous bands (septae), which pull the skin down and create a dimpled appearance. QWO will gradually disperse these tethers, releasing tension and enabling the skin to smoothen out. Additionally, QWO redistributes fat cells and stimulates the growth of new collagen.

QWO offers many benefits, including:

  • Treatments are non-surgical and require no downtime.
  • Visible results may start appearing in as little as ten weeks after a few treatments.
  • Injections can be completed in a short treatment session (in some cases, only ten minutes!).

What Can I Expect?

Using a small needle, your aesthetic specialist injects QWO directly into targeted dimples in the buttocks. Injections are administered in a convenient, in-office visit that can be conducted quickly, often during a lunch break. The best results from QWO are achieved with a series of three treatment sessions spaced approximately three weeks apart.
