Are you interested in getting Botox but aren’t sure where to start?
We’ve got answers!
Check out this list of 10 things you can expect with Botox injections.
1. Real Results
You may begin to notice results within 24 to 48 hours for moderate to severe frown lines, with results lasting up to 4 months.
2. What Does It Feel Like?
Some patients report that being injected with Botox can feel like a pinch.
We offer ice to numb the treatment area. If you are truly concerned about discomfort, we can apply a topical numbing cream before administering your treatment.
3. The Actual Injection Process Takes About 10 Minutes
Dr. Tina West will discuss your treatment goals, answering any questions you might have, and perform a facial analysis to determine the appropriate treatment areas for you.
The actual Botox injections only take a few minutes.
4. You’ll Look Like Yourself—Only With Less Noticeable Frown Lines and Crow’s Feet
Botox is a technique-sensitive treatment. If administered correctly, you should not lose the ability to show expression when you are treated.
5. Return to Your Daily Routine
Botox treatments require minimal downtime or recovery.
Botox injections are often called a lunchtime procedure because of how fast the process can be.
You’ll be able to go about your normal routine immediately after you leave our office.
For optimal results, it is preferable to postpone exercise and strenuous activity for two to four hours after treatment.
6. Cost Considerations
Dr. Tina West will consult with you to discuss every part of the Botox injection experience and that includes pricing.
It is important to remember that your cost not only includes the price of the product, but more importantly, the skill and expertise of the specialist you are trusting–Dr. Tina West.
Botox injections are a technique-sensitive treatment—so regardless of where you’re going you want to make sure you look for someone who is licensed and trained and has experience treating patients with Botox.
Be mindful that if a deal sounds too good to be true–FREE BOTOX–it probably is.
7. How Fast Will Botox Kick In?
Botox typically takes effect anywhere from three to five days following treatment; with maximum efficacy apparent at two weeks.
Dr. West always like to see her patients at the two week mark after the first treatment to ensure optimum dose and placement, and to perform any necessary touch-up.
8. Your Goals Will Be Met
Have realistic expectations about what Botox injections can and can’t do.
Above all, be up front with your physician about what you are trying to achieve so that before you receive any injections you both are on the same page.
With realistic expectations and a qualified injector come great Botox experiences.
9. Is There a Specific Dose for Botox?
Botox and other neuromodulators (Dysport, Xeomin) are very effective treatments which relax facial muscles that cause creases in the skin with facial expression.
There is a direct dose: duration correlation with Botox treatment (which Dr. West published in the medical journal “Dermatologic Surgery” in the late 1990’s).
No matter what dose you receive, there will be a “bell curve” in which there is time for the neuromodulator to fully take effect, then a peak in activity, and then a gradual decline.
Know that a smaller dose decreases the total time of efficacy, but there will always be a period of time during which the muscles are more paralyzed, with less effect at the beginning and end of the treatment duration.
Dr. West recommends a dosage that lasts three-and-a-half to four months because patients don’t want to have to come back every eight weeks for treatment.
Nobody wants to look “frozen,” so regardless of where you’re going, a qualified physician will determine what dose will give you the best and longest lasting result that will result in the most natural appearance.
10. You’ll Be Hooked
It’s easy to agree that we all want to look our best, and with the results of Botox injections you will surely feel refreshed and fabulous.
Be prepared to get compliments, as well a boost in morale and self confidence. You’ll likely want to keep getting Botox to keep that good feeling going.
But rest assured that it’s impossible to be physically addicted to Botox.
